Mandatory Entrance Fees & Carrying Capacity

The Municipality of Teulada manages Spiaggia di Tuerredda under a carrying-capacity model. This model limits the daily visitor flow to prevent ecological deterioration of the beach's delicate sand and marine ecosystem.

The active restricted period runs from June 2 to October 15, 2026. Gate control officers verify digital bookings daily between 08:00 AM and 06:00 PM. The total beach capacity is capped at 1,100 visitors per day: 729 spots for the free public beach sections and 371 spots for the private bathing clubs (stabilimenti balneari).

Official Entrance Tariffs (2026)

Tariff Category Cost (EUR) Cost (USD) Eligibility & Requirements

The Mandatory Beach Mat Rule (Obbligo Stuoia)

Local environmental guards (guardie ambientali) actively patrol the shoreline to enforce the beach mat ordinance. Laying standard cotton, terrycloth, or microfiber towels directly on the sand is strictly prohibited.

Wet fabrics act like sponges, adhering to the sand grains. When visitors shake out their towels or pack them away, large volumes of fine sand are carried off the beach, accelerating coastal erosion.

Visitors must place a rigid, non-porous underlayment mat (crafted from straw, bamboo, or woven plastic) directly on the sand, beneath any fabric towel. Violators will receive municipal warnings and administrative fines from patrol officers. Compliant bamboo mats can be rented or purchased for €2.00 (~$2.18) to €5.00 (~$5.45) from vendors in Pula, Chia, or Teulada.

Zero-Plastic & Environmental Regulations

Spiaggia di Tuerredda enforces a strict zero-plastic ordinance. Single-use plastic products (disposable water bottles, bags, cups, cutlery, and straws) are completely banned.

Food should be packed in reusable containers or paper wraps, and drinks should be held in steel vacuum-insulated flasks. The on-site beach kiosks are noted for high prices, so packing a compliant, plastic-free picnic is a cost-effective alternative.

🚨 Fines for Sand & Shell Theft

Collecting sand, seashells, or pebbles from any Sardinian shoreline is a serious offense under Regional Law 16/2017.

Fines range from €500 (~$545) to €3,000 (~$3,270). Airport security agents use high-resolution X-rays specifically to identify smuggled sand containers.
